HOW TO START A BUCKET LIST!

United States

WHAT IS A BUCKET LIST?

A list of things you want to do before you “kick the bucket”

Let me tell you a little secret, 10+ years ago I used to have a bucket list blog named "The Bucket List Girl" and it was my pride and joy. I focused on helping others understand that you don't have to be "rich or dying" to start a bucket list. You can find more about what happened to that blog this old blog post named once a blogger... But as I'm sitting down to write this post I can't help but feel a little nostalgic about writing on such a subject that I used live and breathe. So as you look at these tips I'm about to share today, I hope that you truly take the time to sit down and start a bucket list for yourself. No matter how old you are are, or what your financial situation is because writing things out will really help you get closer to that goal!

How to start a bucket list, no money but want to travel, how to complete a bucket list

5 QUICK TIPS ON HOW TO GET STARTED:

  1. Look online for inspiration. Google search: “Bucket list ideas” You will stumble upon the most beautiful pictures from all over the World.
  2. Watch the movie “The Bucket list” (even though they were old and about to kick the bucket you should still get an idea of what a bucket list is)
  3. Buy a notepad or a journal that you can write down ideas on. You can also use apps on your phone. For example “notes” and create a “my Bucket List” list.
  4. Start a Pinterest board. What that is going to do is, you are now going to have a visual for your inspiration. If you want to go more in-depth you can create a Travel Bucket list board or a Food Bucket list to name a few. I have a few categories I have created for myself self such as Couples Bucket list, Travel Bucket list, Fall + Winter Bucket List & Summer Bucket List.
  5. The reason I say “Bucket Lists” is that I think you should have more the one Bucket List.

WHY SHOULD I HAVE A BUCKET LIST?

As an avid bucket lister, I get asked this question a lot. My answer to you is: WHY NOT? I truly believe that it is a great idea to have a list of your goals, ideas, and things you would like to accomplish while alive. You don't have to be old, rich, or sick to start one! Start now! Start one Today! Think about all of the new adventures and opportunities... for example going on a hot air balloon ride, or participating in a Utah version of Cupcake Wars.

BUT REALLY, HOW DO I GET STARTED?
  1. Here is how simple this process should be for you:
  2. Grab a pen & Paper
  3. Number it from 1-10 (small steps)
  4. Start with 1 or 2 goals that you would like to accomplish
  5. Hang your paper somewhere in your house that you walk by often. Then Forget about it for a day… (I put it on my Fridge)
  6. As you go thru your day, Ideas are just going to come to your mind at the most unexpected moments… Trust Me it Works! That’s when you grab your list and start writing your ideas down.
  7. The sky is the limit! You can start with the basic and easy goals, then move on to Dreams & Wishes.
  8. I have a notebook that I carry around with me everywhere I go! I also use my calendar on my phone to schedule things. Google & Pinterest are my resources!
  9. inspiration is everywhere! The other day I was out on a drive and saw a couple of homeless people on the side of the road. that inspired me to add “Help out at a Homeless shelter” & ” Food Drive” to my Summer Bucket List.
